Slipper Camp (Class Notes)

Hello Friends!

Here are a few of the tools we covered during Slipper Camp:

Getting grounded. This step is very important. Stabilize and anchor yourself before doing anything energy related.

Start by relaxing from the top of the head and workd your way down to your feet. Some people prefer to start from their feet and work their way up. This is fine, too. Think of the words “soft” and “stretchy”.

Imagine roots growing out of the bottoms of the feet that reach down to the center of the earth.

Let any tension/energetic clutter in the body melt and slide down the body and release out through your roots.

Allow energy to flow in up from the earth through your feet, down from the universe through the top of your head, and in on your breath. Allow it to flow through the body like fresh air coming in the first time you open the window in spring.

Imagine light flowing down through the top of the head, through the body and out through your feet, and then imagine light flowing up from the center of the earth, up through your feet, your legs, and your torso to your heart. Allow this light to expand in all directions.

Imagine a ball of light above your head and call all the parts of your soul back to this ball. Then bring the ball down to your belly and then back up to your heart and expand in all directions.

To help bring the mind to the present moment:

1. Focus on the physical body.

Your mind will wander off and into the past and the future. You can tether it to the present by focusing on your body which is always in the present.

Focus on the feeling of the rise and fall of your breath.

Focus on the feeling of the air coming into the nose.

Focus on the feeling of your tongue in your mouth.

Focus on what you hear.

Focus on what you see (with your eyes closed)

Pat your heart and feel the patting from the chest’s point of view. Then rub the heart and feel the rubbing from the hand’s point of view. Then rest your hand over your heart and feel the rise and fall of your breath.

2. Focus on your breath.

Breathe in for a count of 2 and out for a count of 4. Then, inhale for a count of 3, and exhale for a count of 6. Continue increasing the count.

Breathe in the word, “Let”and breathe out the word “Go”.

Use the sound “shhhh” to help stop intrusive thoughts. Think of your mind as a library and you are the librarian. The intrusive thoughts are like children who don’t yet know the rules of the library and need to be taught.

3. Tapping

There’s a tapping technique that is somewhat more involved that is very effective call Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Brad Yates has some really good videos on YouTube.

The points we tap are:

  • Side of the hand
  • Top of the head
  • Eyebrows
  • Sides of the eyes
  • Under the eyes
  • Under the nose
  • Under the lips
  • Collar bone area
  • Side of the body

In EFT, the top of the head is the last on the list of points to tap. For what we do, the order isn’t as specific.

At each point, take a nice breath and let go of any tension.

Let your mind know that you are taking a break. Tell it that in this moment, there’s nothing you need to do, there’s nowhere you need to be, there’s nothing you need to figure out, and there’s nothing you need to remember.

Allow yourself to just Be.
