Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention
(TCA-FP)

Description

Based on the Sun style of Tai Chi, this program was designed by Dr. Paul Lam to benefit those with Arthritis. Numerous medical studies have proven its effectiveness at helping Arthritis (both osteo and rheumatoid) as well as fibromyalgia symptoms with the side benefit of fall prevention. This form is taught in three sections (Introduction, Part I, and Part II).

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention I (TCA-FP I)

Prerequisite: Baduanjin Qigong or Introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong

This form is excellent for stress relief and is used as our Beginner form because of its suitability for most body types and conditions. It’s for anyone who would like to improve their balance, coordination, and relaxation of the body with the side benefit of improving symptoms of Arthritis.

TCA-FP I: Refinement and Review

Prerequisite: Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention I

This class is for those who have previously attended the Tai Chi for Arthritis I class and serves to bridge the gap between learning the form and being able to practice without any instruction. The class will consist of a warm up followed by a guided practice. We will also cover preparation for Section II.

TCA-FP II

Prerequisite: Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention I

In this class, we will add new choreography and continue practicing the skills we learned in section I.

TCA-FP II: Refinement and Review

Prerequisite: Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention II

This class is for those who have previously learned Tai Chi for Arthritis II and are looking to review or refine the movements in this section. We will also be learning the alternate version of Section I.

If you’re not yet able to do the form without watching or being prompted, this is the class for you!

This class will involve a lot of repetition and review as we refine our movements of Section II of the Tai Chi for Arthritis form.
